On the evening of November 21, 2019, the Producers Night of the Golden Rooster Film Forum was held at the Tianyuan Hotel. The producer plays a central role in filmmaking, leading a film from its beginning to its end. The producer is the film’s navigator and standard-bearer, a bridge between the commercial nature of film and artistic creation, and an indispensable figure in the industrialization of contemporary Chinese cinema.
That evening, industry figures including Sun Chonglei, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Film Association; Jiang Hao, President of Phoenix Legend Films; director Yin Li; screenwriter Shi Hang; Wang Yibing, CEO of Bad Monkey Pictures; Li Ning, Vice President of New Classics Media and President of New Classics Pictures; Li Shaohong, President of the China Film Directors’ Guild; director Zhang Jizhong; screenwriter Shu Huan; Zhao Ningyu, professor at the Beijing Film Academy; and Chen Jiancheng, General Manager of Bodhi Tree Investment, gathered to discuss the direction of the industrial reform of Chinese cinema and the functions and roles producers should play in promoting the prosperity and development of the film industry.
Sun Chonglei, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Film Association, delivered an address, and Yin Li, Vice Chairman of the China Film Association and Vice President of the China Film Directors’ Guild, gave the keynote speech. Yin Li said: “Planning Chinese cinema for the next5 years,10 years or even longer relies on the younger generation of creators, but it also requires more producers with vision, management skills and professional expertise to emerge.”
