Synopsis

The story takes place at a primary school in a town. Pengpeng and Xiaomai are two close friends who have just been through a round of school consolidation; of their little group, only the two of them were lucky enough to be assigned to the same school. One day after school, while fooling around at school, they accidentally learn that the school may close because it cannot enroll enough students. To avoid being separated again, the two decide to act. They find a hall piled with old desks and chairs and make it their "secret base". There, Pengpeng and Xiaomai hatch a bold plan: renovate the school to attract more students and so save it. They weave football goals out of bed sheets and refresh the graffiti wall with chalk, trying to create an appearance of prosperity. When a teacher discovers what they are doing, the children lose hope and sadly begin to say goodbye. But in the end the school is kept open. The teacher they liked leaves, but more volunteer teachers arrive. Pengpeng and Xiaomai prove their courage and determination through action and bring new life to the school.
