Synopsis

Heelin is a lonely seeker of the Way. In this degenerate age of collapsed faith, she adheres to the way of the warrior, refining herself each day by the warrior's creed and devoting body and spirit entirely to it. She trains in her hideout: burning incense, meditating, flashing back to fights in contemplation, studying The Last Samurai. Heelin rides her motorcycle through the West Coast streets late at night, patrolling busy districts and watching the crowds outside nightclubs for signs of criminals. Heelin intercepts Boss Kun West's Dodge Challenger on her motorcycle and executes him with a blade of fire. In her hideout, Heelin gears up and studies a crime map: the factions of the West Coast are tangled together. To root out the seeds of evil without upsetting the city's delicate balance, she must plan carefully. Wearing a Dune-style wastelander's cloak and fully armed, Heelin storms Ghost Gang territory alone. After taking out several guards she enters an underground car park, where, in the dim light, she is captured by a White Devil squad lying in wait... The author wanders the city streets at night, working out the story in his head. He passes through each scene of his imagination and now and then meets passers-by with the familiar faces of the characters. Racking his brains as he writes, he sketches the concept outline of the woman warrior Heelin, the name of each character, the clue wall; brooding in madness, writing profound sentences, obsessed with philosophical puzzles, old friends vanishing in flames. Perhaps this is still an obscure lucid dream...
