Something That Takes More Courage Than Marriage
Something That Takes More Courage Than Marriage
Synopsis
The wedding takes place in Changchun in April. Xiao He and A Jiao, a couple who have been together for seven years, are university classmates of the bride and groom, and the best man and maid of honor at this wedding. The wedding is lively and grand, with door games, the tea ceremony, greeting guests and toasts. Xiao He and A Jiao are busy throughout, moved by the sincere feelings and brought to tears by the newlyweds' passionate love. During the speeches, the bride introduces Xiao He and A Jiao to everyone: they will marry this August, a double celebration. The guests applaud, and Xiao He and A Jiao are wrapped in the happy atmosphere. At the party everyone drinks heavily and dances to their heart's content, and Xiao He and A Jiao laugh drunkenly as they accept their friends' blessings. Back at the hotel, the quiet of the room is a world away from the noise of the day. Xiao He and A Jiao have been together for a long, long time, but the feeling of love has slipped away at some point. Both know it and do not know what to do. Today is the last straw for their love. A wedding records love at its best. Invited to attend, they stake everything on it, throwing themselves in to feel and recover that reckless impulse. They cannot bear to let go like this; or rather, they dare not let go like this. But they still fail. Or perhaps, at this wedding, they do not recover their love but finally find the courage to say goodbye. Choosing to part, choosing to head alone into the current of life, may take more courage than getting married. At this moment, their lives also start a new line.
