Synopsis

In a blended family, Father Jiang and Mother Guo unexpectedly conceive a new baby, but Mother Guo begins to waver when she realizes that the children each of them brought into the family will no longer be the center of attention. The two directors wanted to tell a story between sisters and drew inspiration from real people. Although the real-life parents have already had their third child, to suit screen storytelling and bring out the core of the story, the plot begins after the elder sister, Jiang Yiyang, happens to find out that her parents are about to have a new baby. On one side, the parents are absorbed in the joy of welcoming a new life; on the other, the step-sisters, who share neither parent, go through a change of heart. From this starting point, the directors reflect the delicate relationships among members of blended families after the introduction of the three-child policy, and show how the two sisters come to accept the newborn through interaction and communication.
