Director: Li Fangbo

Synopsis

A director who has lost his inspiration wants to find a good story to film, but cannot come up with one himself. So he searches everywhere, asking everyone he meets, and is rebuffed again and again. Every story he hears seems dull. What he is looking for is a story that, even if not fully understood, cannot be forgotten once told. Just as he is about to give up, he meets a fortune teller, who tells him that he himself is the story. Enlightened, he picks up a camera and starts filming himself, but in the end he finds nothing in himself either. After all his efforts, the only result is that he is a mediocrity who cannot think of a good story. Standing on a rooftop, about to end his life, he realizes that his search for a story is itself an interesting story. So instead of killing himself, he turns the experience into a film.
