Synopsis

Bai Xiaomeng dreams of becoming a great writer. Unhappy with the exam-oriented essay writing taught at school, he and his close friend Chen Dasheng plot a thrilling plan to skip class and go in search of what they see as the true temple of literature. A series of unexpected encounters gives their journey a dreamlike sense of adventure: Mr. Shen, a taxi driver, an underground singer, an old street cleaner, one after another. Will they find their own direction in literature? Through the dreamlike adventure of two young people, the film reflects on today's exam-oriented education. Is the purpose of education to break new ground and develop individuality, or to follow established rules and produce conformity? It is a question worth thinking about.
