Feet
Feet
Synopsis
FEET is a three-act short whose protagonist is "feet," with no dialogue and no monologue. This story, full of metaphor, applies equally to women, to men, and to today's war-torn world: our skin colors differ, but the soles of our feet are the same color and our souls are the same color, so why can we not stand side by side on the earth, instead of treading on ruins and on each other's bodies? The story: "White Moonlight" casts off her white high heels after discovering that "Red Rose" has come between her and her husband. "White Moonlight" leaves the home and returns to the workplace, as if stepping onto the table of a banquet, where she faces one ambiguous, scheming hurdle after another. She swallows her pride and presses on, because at the end of the long table are the glass slippers of her dreams. But faced with the temptation of countless shoes, she finally puts on the same red high heels as "Red Rose." The narrative then crosses over to Red Rose's story. She differs from "White Moonlight" in race and personality. After rising in status, she too walks onto the long table. Although she moves forward decisively, she is finally trampled underfoot by the "shoes," her feet covered in wounds. When she has nowhere left to turn, "White Moonlight" comes to her side; they confess to and forgive each other and walk on hand in hand. The camera films the soles of their feet: whatever the skin color, the soles are the same color.
