Synopsis

The story takes place in 2010 in the pastoral area of Ordos. Eleven-year-old Henggan is a reserved, sensitive, steady and capable child. Because his father died when he was six, he grew up early, sees himself as the pillar of the family, and is always helping his mother with everything while also looking after his brother, five years younger. These experiences make Henggan wary of outsiders. Unlike his younger brother, Henggan knew a father's love, but for now he cannot accept Bars. As Bars quietly gives himself to the family, cares for their mother, treats both sons as his own, and patiently teaches Henggan to train horses and plant desert willow, Henggan moves from resistance to acceptance and reconciliation, and even feels a father's love again. In his small world, Bars finally becomes his strongest pillar.
