Before Dawn
Synopsis
On a post-apocalyptic wasteland Earth, a human and a robot depend on each other. To survive, they must find resources and food, and they also try to find an oasis, but on the way they are surrounded by a gang of thugs in armored vehicles. He stands there holding a gun, trembling and breaking down... Director's statement: (On an ordinary day, a blind man goes out relying on the blind-assistance scanning mode of his phone. Just going to the supermarket is as hard as finding food in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He also wants to try to buy a potted plant, but loses his way at a busy intersection and stands there holding his white cane, trembling and breaking down...) In fact, there is no post-apocalyptic world at all, only a blind man's ordinary trip outside. In a world without sight, every difficulty is magnified without limit and, in his imagination, becomes the end of the world. Using AI, the phone's blind-assistance scanning mode and a volunteer-calling app as its main props and premise, the film is an avant-garde artistic exploration. It asks how much technological progress can really help people, and whether silicon-based technology can make up for the limits of the human body. The film was shot entirely on mobile phones, with the phone footage converted into AI imagery.
