Synopsis

With rapid technological development, many things in society are changing quickly. As for media, the main way we receive information has moved from print to television and now to mobile phones. Most elderly people are clearly less able than young people to learn to use smartphones. Sleepless on a Windy Night tells the story of Lao Wang, who, faced with a smartphone his son is about to send him, takes a series of steps to accept and learn to use it. The film deals with the relationship between aging and technology and with family ties. It tells a moving story and invites the audience to reflect on real life. During the making of the short, we also hoped to help more elderly people learn to use smartphones, to contribute to their wider use among the elderly, and to improve the quality of life and well-being of local villagers.
