Synopsis

In a herding family on the Inner Mongolian grasslands, the son, Songbuer, and his mother see a weather bureau warning of a coming rainstorm. Together they go to bring the family's sheep back into the pen, but find that a lamb has gone missing. While they are searching for it, his mother suddenly has an asthma attack, but her medicine has run out, so Songbuer decides to go and get more. On the way back with the medicine, he comes across a lamb, but it is not the one his family lost. Unable to leave it, he decides to save it. On the muddy road home, his car gets stuck. Songbuer tries everything to get it out, without success. His sick mother has been waiting at home for a long time, so Songbuer picks up the lamb and runs across the grassland until he finally sees the lights of home.
