Synopsis

While volunteering at a charity, I first came across the story of Mada. He has cerebral palsy, but he also has a musical dream and is willing to persevere. The Little Lighthouse Choir later fulfilled his wish by letting him sing lead with the choir on a music video, Beautiful Garden. He was very happy and greatly encouraged. I then met Mengke. Although she has difficulty walking, she keeps learning to type on a computer. When the teacher asked about her dream, she said she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up. Asked why, her answer moved everyone: "To cure my illness!" It is an answer that wrings an adult's heart, so I decided to film her story. Later I met Chengbao. Half of her brain is missing and she cannot speak. Her mother is very strong. While accompanying her child through treatment, she regularly posts guides on rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy on Weibo and recommends China's top 50 cerebral palsy rehabilitation experts. She has also set up several WeChat groups for patients' families and holds regular tests in the groups, for example on five drugs children with cerebral palsy must not take. Anyone who answers wrong is removed from the group and added back after passing the next test, all on a voluntary basis. To some extent, the stories of these three children and their families reflect the difficulties, needs and prospects of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The charity actively guides them through community rehabilitation and social inclusion, encouraging them to enter society so that more people understand their real needs, which is the only way they can receive help from society. Encouraged by the charity, they are willing to open up to society and encourage other families to do the same.
