Synopsis

Treating travel as a shared journey of the mind, this mood short draws on real footage of moments the two of us experienced in real life. In a creative and somewhat abstract visual form, it aims for genuine emotional expression with the texture of vintage film. While talking with the world, it is also a conversation with one's inner self. Its melancholic visuals and narration are, to some extent, a "release": exploring the depth of the physical world as it meets outward truths, and giving form to the desires and creations played out within. When these two twisted tensions reach their limit, the ego relaxes for a moment, the mind gets a breather, and room is left for "reconciliation" with oneself. The footage spans about two years, shot in Hainan in May 2021 and in Chongqing in October 2022. In the summer of 2023 we returned to Qingdao, wandered along the seaside, and filmed a lot of scenery on the spot.
