Synopsis

Yuguo is one of a new generation of Evenki reindeer herders growing up in the Aoluguya forest. Three years ago he returned from the city to the forest and began searching for their reindeer herd, relying on his memory of the mountain paths his mother Liuxia once walked with him. He has also brought skateboards, mountain bikes, short videos and rap from the city into the forest. This is the style of the new generation of reindeer herders: connected with the world beyond the forest, fond of the hunting era but not confined by it. Yuguo's name is Xiwen, which means "sun" in the Evenki language. Liuxia's longing and love for Yuguo are direct and intense, like the energy of the sun. Whenever Liuxia misses her son, she looks at the sun in the sky, while Yuguo walks toward the sun in search of his reindeer.
