Synopsis

Set against a sunrise over a sea of clouds, the film tells a moving story about love, regret and the meaning of life. Wang Di returns alone to the snow mountain where he first met his girlfriend, Lin Wan. While waiting for the sunrise, he meets a mysterious middle-aged man. The two are brought together by a last bottle of oxygen, and as they talk, Wang Di gradually reveals an unforgettable past. Through careful flashbacks, the film shows how Wang Di and Lin Wan met and fell in love over a turtle named "Erwan," and how they drifted apart under the pressures of real life. About to graduate, Wang Di is busy job hunting and socializing, misses Lin Wan's important moments again and again, and even forgets their promise to return to the snow mountain every anniversary to watch the sunrise. When Lin Wan asks, "Do we have a future? Do I have a future?", Wang Di, absorbed in "working hard for the future," does not grasp what lies behind her words. Only when the middle-aged man points out that "she was so sensitive about the future because she had no future of her own" does Wang Di finally understand. At the end of the film, the mysterious appearance of a second turtle and the disappearance of the middle-aged man leave the story with a warm and thoughtful resonance: some missed chances cannot be recovered, but love and memory carry on in another form.
