Those Who Work
Director: Antoine Russbach Screenwriter: Emmanuel Marre / Catherine Paillé / Antoine Russbach
The new film by French director Antoine Russbach, the first part of his trilogy on social classes, tells the story of an unemployed middle-aged man who cannot find work and sinks step by step into depression, to the point of thinking about suicide; it goes all the way to rock bottom. The script and the overall narrative rhythm are excellent; in its writing and themes, the film is like a mix of Stéphane Brizé and the Dardenne brothers.
