Award Comments:
According to the jury, the art design of "Legend of the Demon Cat" presents the charm of classical Chinese painting and traditional aesthetic mood. It took six years to build a Tang City in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, and every blade of grass, every tree, every building, every picture, all of them perfectly reproduce the scenery of the Tang Dynasty. The artist used excellent creativity to deal with the subtle color relationship by contrasting the warmth and coldness, and the visual rhythm and hierarchy are full of rhythmic sense, which builds an illusionary realm of the times with an oriental flavor.
The Legend of the Demon Cat Film Introduction:
The story takes place in Chang'an during the Tang Dynasty, where Bai Le Tian (Huang Xuan), an important official at the imperial court, is willingly relegated to the position of a living room attendant in order to gather material for his poems. A series of strange deaths occur in the city of Chang'an, and even the current saint is strangely killed, all because of a demonic cat. A Japanese monk, Kukai, who has come all the way from Japan to break the Emperor's spell, shares Pak Lok Tin's interest and is determined to work together to find out the truth. As a song called "Qing Ping Tune" shows the connection between the demonic cat and the death of Yang Guifei (Zhang Yung Rong) thirty years ago, Pak Lok Tin and Kung Hai trace the diary left by Abe Nakamaro (Abe Kuan), who was once obsessed with Yang Guifei, and witness the glory of Tang Dynasty, and uncover the conspiracy that has been hidden from them until now.
