The 33rd China Golden Rooster Awards
Synopsis
The spiritual energy of heaven and earth gives birth to the Chaos Pearl, a pearl of immense power. Yuanshi Tianzun refines it into a Spirit Pearl and a Demon Pill. The Spirit Pearl, reborn as a human, will be of great use in helping the Zhou overthrow the tyrant King Zhou of Shang; the Demon Pill will give birth to a demon king who will bring disaster to the world. Yuanshi Tianzun casts a heavenly curse: in three years, heavenly lightning will strike and destroy the Demon Pill. Taiyi is ordered to have the Spirit Pearl reborn as Ne Zha, the son of Li Jing of Chentang Pass. But by mistake the Spirit Pearl and the Demon Pill are switched. Ne Zha, who should have been the Spirit Pearl hero, becomes a demon king instead. Mischievous and unruly, he nonetheless has the heart of a hero. Facing everyone's prejudice against the Demon Pill and the approaching heavenly lightning, is Ne Zha destined to become a demon? Which path will he take?
