Creative Statement

The first half of the story shows three teenagers' adventures, their friendship and the love slowly emerging between them. The second half follows a journey through time and space, in which they recover precious feelings lost along the course of their lives. The journey begins with the regret and pain that the passage of time cannot ease, and ends with reconciliation and healing in a parallel world.

Synopsis

A timid boy enters a restricted zone in search of a missing girl, but arrives in an unknown world where he sees another life for himself and the girl.

About the Director/Screenwriter

Feng Yi: From Jinan, Shandong. Holds a master's degree in screenwriting from the China Film Art Research Center (China Film Archive). Selected for the 2021 Golden Rooster Young Directors Training Camp, the 2022 Wu Tianming Young Screenwriters Workshop and the 2023 China Film Association creative workshop for new literary and art groups. The sci-fi feature project The Folds of Time was selected for the project market of the Pingyao International Film Festival, HAF (Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum), the FIRST Genre Film Lab and the Sci-Fi Film Section of the Golden Rooster Films Project Market. The fantasy short Night Walk in People's Park was selected for the NEST section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Golden Rooster Cross-Strait Youth Short Film Season and the ISFFC international short film exhibition. The horror short Ghostbusting was selected for the Pumpkin Fantastic Film Festival and the Frontier Fringe International Arts Festival and is distributed on CathayPlay, a Chinese-language art film streaming platform. As an editor, he has worked on the film Mama and the Seven Days and the documentaries Home on the Plateau and Rural China, among others.

About the Screenwriter

Liu Jike: From Dalian, Liaoning. Holds a master's degree in screenwriting from the China Film Art Research Center (China Film Archive). Has worked at Li Haishu's screenwriting studio and the Beijing Network Audio-Visual Association. The sci-fi feature project The Folds of Time was selected for the project market of the Pingyao International Film Festival, HAF (Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum), the FIRST Genre Film Lab and the Sci-Fi Film Section of the Golden Rooster Films Project Market. The fantasy short Night Walk in People's Park was selected for the NEST section of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Golden Rooster Cross-Strait Youth Short Film Season and the ISFFC international short film festival. As a screenwriter, he has worked on the films Ice and Snow Forest, Pink Panda and A Letter from Seventeen, the TV series The Story of the Giant Panda and the documentary Amazing Engineering, among others.

Shi Xiao: From Chongqing. Holds a master's degree from the Beijing Film Academy and was selected for the 2023 FIRST Producer Lab. Has worked at Taiwan's Prospect Entertainment and at director Rao Xiaozhi's studio. The suspense feature project Bad Friends received a FIRST Genre Film Lab Surprise production grant, was selected for Lianrui Pictures' Little Carpenter Film Program and for the project market of the Shanghai International Film Festival. The sci-fi short Black River was selected for the Court Metrage (Short Film Corner) of the Cannes Film Festival, HiShorts! Xiamen Short Film Week, the Beijing College Student Film Festival, the Hong Kong Bauhinia International Film Festival, the SCMG video competition and the ONED Avant-garde Image Lab, and won third prize at the Zhejiang Youth Film Week. The suspense short Stray Elephant was selected for the Silk Road International Film Festival, the Banxia Memorial College Student Film Exhibition, the final round of the Beijing Film Association short film competition and the Chinese Youth Film Week. The drama short Survivor was selected for the Golden Rooster Cross-Strait Youth Short Film Season and the second round of the Beijing Film Association short film competition, and received a Best Short Film nomination at the Beijing Film Academy Golden Word Awards.
