When All My Dining Buddies Fell in Love

Creative Statement

When all my dining buddies fell in love, Wang Xiaolu started to panic. So as not to eat alone, Wang Xiaolu began searching for her own happiness. But she found that, in this day and age, the need for romance seems to have disappeared...

Synopsis

Wang Xiaolu is an ordinary young woman, so ordinary that even automatic doors fail to open for her. While her peers wear themselves out competing, Wang Xiaolu and her dining buddies live a relaxed life of checking in at new restaurants and eating their way around town. Shen Zhaowen, a sharp and capable professional; Ding Zhiyan, an easygoing and talkative designer; and Feng Yang, a tearful young man who lives for romance: from slacking off to chowing down, the four do everything together. But as the age of 30 approaches, Wang Xiaolu's dining buddies, one after another, begin to make their peace with reality. The once lively dinner table is left with only Wang Xiaolu. So as not to eat alone, Wang Xiaolu starts interviewing odd new buddies and even hides in an ambiguous relationship, drifting into a romance that does not make her happy. In an age when a "buddy" can account for any relationship, the need for romance has disappeared and every relationship is "low-key"; even her family back home have become "holiday buddies" she sees only once a year. And all Wang Xiaolu wants is not to eat alone...
