Creative Statement
This is a story of a surrogate father and son. A small border town, an abandoned railway line: in this setting, the story is full of both chaos and order. As a narcotics officer, Wu Zhigang's duty is to catch drug dealers. But now he has been consumed by hatred and will stop at nothing for revenge. Out of love for his son, an upright people's police officer has sunk into a beast in human skin. As for Tong Liaoliao, with a drug dealer for a father, his life was destined to be miserable from birth. Adults reject him and classmates discriminate against him. Being unruly and combative is the only way he can feel he exists. When Wu Zhigang's fatherly love arrives, Liaoliao knows very well that it is false, and that Wu Zhigang is using it to catch his father. But people are such false creatures: Wu Zhigang, who set the trap, and Tong Liaoliao, who fell into it, are both caught deep in this trap called fatherly love, and in the end they become a real father and son.
Synopsis
Drug dealer Tong Zhenyun kills the only son of narcotics officer Wu Zhigang and flees overnight. The blow devastates Wu Zhigang, and from then on catching Tong Zhenyun becomes his only purpose in life. Two years later, still pursuing the investigation, Wu Zhigang discovers that Tong Zhenyun left behind a son, Tong Liaoliao, who now lives with an old man named Qi. Old Mr. Qi, sensing he does not have long to live, wants to find Liaoliao a home, but Liaoliao refuses to move, keeping a promise to his father. One is a father who has lost his wife and son, the other an orphan waiting in vain, and the case binds their fates together. To get clues out of Tong Liaoliao, Wu Zhigang must win his trust, and this gives the two an unusual time together. But as Tong Zhenyun's return draws near, the two, ever closer, face a difficult choice.

Logline
