Synopsis

Deep in the Taihang Mountains, at half past five in the morning, Liu Ye's courtyard is always the first to light up. Six years ago, she and her husband put everything they had into building this guesthouse in a remote mountain hollow that no one visited. Today, Wu'an hele noodles steam on the stove and elderly guests sit together chatting, while she, at 47, awkwardly sets up a phone stand to livestream for the first time. She does not chase online traffic or know anything about marketing, but with prices unchanged for more than ten years and three meals made with care, she holds on to this land and to an answer shared by countless families in the Taihang Mountains: put down roots in your home soil, and life has something to look forward to.
