Synopsis

Sixty-Nine is a story that explores the lives of the elderly, the feelings between an old married couple, and the bond between father and son. Ding Zhonghua, who has settled in the city, returns to the countryside for the 69th birthday of his father, Ding Baogen. Old and seriously ill, his father cannot let go of his home or of his wife, who has gone missing, and does not want to go with Ding Zhonghua to live and receive treatment in the city. Should he respect his father's wishes and let him live as an "empty-nester," or ignore what his father wants and "harden his heart" to take him to the city for treatment? Ding Zhonghua faces a difficult choice...
