Gao Zhanwu and Cao Maolin cannot bear to see their hometown suffering from water shortage. They propose to cut mountains and divert water. Once the news spreads, it is opposed by the conservative old president. Zhao, the open-minded secretary of the township party committee, understands that this is a righteous act and decides to fully support it. At work, Cao Maolin met a young woman named Kong Shuzhen who had returned to her hometown and fell in love. He asked the eloquent Gao Zhanwu to confess his feelings to Kong Shuzhen, but was mercilessly rejected by the latter. In fact, Gao Zhanwu silently admired Kong Shuzhen, but he chose to bury this emotion deeply in his heart. In an accident, Kong Shuzhen was in danger. Fortunately, she was able to save her life with the help of Gao Zhanwu. From then on, Gao Zhanwu became extraordinary in Kong Shuzhen's eyes. Although the mountain opening operation encountered many difficulties and accidents, in the end, the gurgling mountain springs still nourished the dry land in the village.
