This movie is about a rainy night in an industrial town in late 2007. Liu Weidong, a retired police officer who has been living alone for many years, is inadvertently involved in a criminal case in his neighbor's house. On the night when a man, Lin Guodong, once again lost his temper after drinking and committed domestic violence against his wife, Li Xiujuan, Li's son Lin Mu, in the course of protecting his mother and defending himself, caused the death of his adoptive father, Lin Guodong. Li Xiu Juan chose to turn herself in, wanting to take the blame for the manslaughter of her son Lin Mu, who had a bright future ahead of him.
