Synopsis

The Lies She Loved, the sixth film in Shochiku's "Auteurism" series, has announced newcomer Mai Kiryu as its lead. Besides this film, Kiryu also stars this year in The Chrysanthemum and the Guillotine, a much-discussed film by director Takahisa Zeze, opposite Masahiro Higashide, and may become a leading candidate for this year's best newcomer. This is the directorial debut of Katsumi Nojiri, who worked as assistant director on Three Stories of Love, The Great Passage and Seto and Utsumi. With a strong cast including Ryo Kase, Ittoku Kishibe, Hideko Hara and Kayoko Kishimoto, it is a moving comedy about a family rebuilding itself after the death of the eldest son (Ryo Kase).
