Synopsis
Shuisheng is a 9-year-old boy in a small town. His parents migrate to cities, leave him to their relatives, and make this unprotected boy an easy prey of student bullies. Huang Simao is a local bum, hiding in all possible places in town. But when Shuisheng is bullied again, Huang Simao stands out and rescues Shuisheng, whom he just encounters. Huang Simao takes shelter in an abandoned tractor shop, and lives on scavenging. Miserable as his life is, Huang Simao defies all the norms, dreams to date the cutest girl and make the most money in town, and is seen as an outlier by the locals. After their encounter, Shuisheng cherishes Huang Simao's protection from bullying, and Huang Simao feels his heart reopened by Shuisheng's innocence and kindness. The two lonely souls support each other, and become the other's only friend.
