Synopsis

Gu Shun lives alone in a cramped rented room in Shanghai, and the pressure of work makes him feel as if he is drowning. On social media he sees videos of Jakup, an elderly falconer in Xinjiang, and gets to know him online. Gu Shun pins his longing for freedom on the eagle, and through translation software asks Jakup questions about eagles and freedom. Jakup, for his part, longs for the city. One day Gu Shun receives a message from Jakup: he is going to release his eagle and go to the city to find his daughter. During a video call, Jakup releases his eagle, and Gu Shun releases the eagle in his own heart. Though the two never meet, they still reach each other and communicate from the heart.
