Good Crops in the Lowland Fields
Good Crops in the Lowland Fields
Synopsis
Following the growth of corn over a season, this short film records everyday life in an ordinary village in southwestern Shandong. It opens in early summer amid golden waves of wheat, as corn seeds are sown. As the corn grows from tender green seedlings into tall, dense stands, the camera captures the farmers weeding, fertilizing and watering, and their laughter as they rest at the edge of the fields. The film shows the vitality and promise of the fields and, through the plain details of the farmers' lives, conveys their deep attachment to the land and their hope for a good harvest. Rural life on screen is calm and beautiful, full of respect and gratitude toward nature, like a moving pastoral poem that lets viewers feel the harmony between people and nature.
