Movements of a Lonely Planet
Movements of a Lonely Planet
Synopsis
In my second year of high school I happened to meet Xuanxuan on Douyin. At the time I did not know that I might one day work in this field and have the chance to "pick up a camera" and record the warmth and hardship of the world. When our group was settling on candidate topics, we put Xuanxuan's story first without hesitation. When we first contacted Xuanxuan's father, we were very nervous, unsure whether he would agree to the project. We then carried out three rounds of location scouting and planning, and finally felt more confident. Thanks to some good luck, a few remarkable things happened: we not only built mutual trust with Xuanxuan, but during one visit we also met Yangyang, a friend with Asperger's syndrome who had traveled from far away on his own; after three rounds of discussion we gained the support and praise of an inclusion center for people with special needs and of the parents; and in the final stage of filming the mobile coffee shop, our work came to the attention of Professor Li Qiang of the Communication University of China, who said, "What you are doing deserves to be seen by society. Well done." We also want to mention the help of "Brother Chi" and his team from a fellow university, and the advice and encouragement of many teachers. Finally, I want to pay special tribute to Xuanxuan's lovely family. They are about to move to Yunnan to start a new business, a journey tracing coffee beans to their source. May every deep family bond be rewarded with a bright and happy spring.
