Synopsis

I want to model my family as an experiment in the universe: the connections and losses in family relationships are much like the interference and restoration of signals in space. In a small town in the Chaoshan region, on the eve of his wedding, the groom keeps rewriting the cue cards for his speech during rehearsal, avoiding how to address his parents. Childhood memories surface like DV footage: he sees his younger self wearing an astronaut's helmet, searching alone for something in the vastness of space. During the family portrait, his mother suddenly bursts into tears, and an argument breaks out over how to address them. At night, the astronaut groom follows a red dot through a rooftop maze and unexpectedly meets his mother as a young woman; the two sit facing each other in silence. As the wedding bells are about to ring, the spaceship and the wedding car overlap in the countdown.
