Synopsis

Through the eyes of a little girl, the film shows the complex and deep feelings among her grandmother, her mother and herself. Using the repair of a pigeon coop as its thread, it links the interactions of three generations. Downplaying dramatic conflict, it uses everyday scenes (fixing the pigeon coop, frying buckwheat crisps, awkward expressions of concern over the phone) to capture the way love so often goes unspoken in East Asian families. The grandmother and the mother, sharp-tongued but soft-hearted, are brought together by the girl's innocence. The interactions among the three generations contain both conflict and reconciliation, and this reserved yet deep love is a memory many of us share. Through this short film, we hope viewers will feel the weight and warmth of family love in the ordinary details of life.
