Where Is Home
Where Is Home
Synopsis
If not for the epidemic, Granny Yang might have finally gone back to visit the hometown she longs for. But everything happens suddenly: her grandson and his wife are too busy to come home, and the Spring Festival turns unusually lonely. In the 1950s, when the country launched the Third Front construction, the young Granny Yang followed the construction teams from her hometown in Shandong to Guangxi, where she settled in the south, and Shandong became a hometown she could never return to. This year her grandson was supposed to take her back to her hometown one last time, but instead she is left alone in an empty house. Her homesickness grows stronger. Granny Yang learns to read, opens old letters from decades ago and can finally read her relatives' handwriting herself. In the end, she picks up a pen and writes a letter that can never be sent or received.
