Synopsis

"Losing" and "winning" are everything to marathon runner Chen Shiyan. She became an athlete to get into a better school and must win the last race that will determine her rating. Before the race, she is diagnosed with calcification of the Achilles tendon. If she keeps training, she must endure the pain; if she has surgery, she will miss the race a month later. Her single mother pins all her hopes for life on Chen Shiyan and forces her to race through the pain. Unable to control her own fate, Chen Shiyan's life becomes bound up in winning and losing, and she becomes a tool of her parent. In the end she does run the race, but falls because of her injured foot and loses consciousness on the track, finally getting a moment of rest from her grueling training. Remembering races with her father as a child, she understands more and more that winning and losing are not everything in life. Having lost her chance at a prize, she makes a decision for herself: to finish the race.
