Synopsis

Video editor Wang Yang is working overtime as usual. He expects to finish the edit that evening, but one problem follows another: his boss pressing for delivery, a computer crash, a lost project file, a client asking for different music, the side effects of his medication. Under these combined blows, he finally breaks down. The film moves from wide-angle shots to increasingly extreme macro close-ups, going deeper and deeper into the protagonist's collapsing state of mind, and uses an experimental shooting approach to convey what it feels like to work frantic overtime. Not long before, many news reports had covered routine overtime among today's office workers, as well as cases of people dying suddenly from overwork. The film sets out to recreate this experience and draw viewers into the character's emotions, so that they live through the process and state of working to death.
