Synopsis

Zhang Heng grew up in the hot, humid south and has always longed for the snow of the north. With this hope, he decides to go to Chicago to study, hoping to see for himself the beauty of falling snow in the city's winter. But by the time he arrives in Chicago, global climate change is transforming the world at an irreversible pace, and winter snow seems to have become an unattainable dream. Zhang Heng studies hard, but whenever a cold wind blows he stands on the balcony gazing at the sky, waiting for snow that never comes. Day after day, his longing for snow becomes an essential part of his life. But as temperatures keep rising, his hope grows ever fainter and his sense of loss grows by the day. One day, when he learns that the last snow on Earth, in the far-off Arctic, has also melted, he breaks down completely. At that moment, he receives a package sent by his ex-girlfriend. Inside are three glass bottles filled with water, a pack of artificial snow powder and a pair of smart earphones holding a recording she made before they broke up.
