Synopsis

Xiaoshan's story begins with his encounter with a volunteer teacher. They share a hobby, and in the teacher Xiaoshan sees a future he envies. An assignment the teacher leaves inspires Xiaoshan to look for his own dream. Along the way, Xiaoshan and his friends ask adults who have seen the sea what it is like, but their rough impressions do not satisfy him. A heart-to-heart talk with the teacher before he leaves makes Xiaoshan really think. He realizes that what he longs for is not the seaside, nor a free life like the teacher's, but the company of his parents and the family love he has been missing. He decides to create his own sea in the mountains of Sichuan.
