Deviant Behavior
Deviant Behavior
Synopsis
The protagonist enters a classroom where individuality is not allowed, where everyone does a set thing at a set time each day and must obey the teacher absolutely. At first he cannot fit in. He makes repeated mistakes and runs into walls, and becomes a focus of the teacher's attention (who draws a cross on his face). After the teacher drives him onto the platform and humiliates him in front of everyone (making the classmates take turns drawing crosses on him), he decides to escape, but he cannot get out of the teacher's grip. He finds that he has already been shaped by his surroundings, his individuality is fading, and he cannot go back. So he gives up resisting and is forced to become just one more unit in the classroom. As he drifts in a daze, a new student walks into the classroom with exactly the same face as his, but he has long since gone numb. Another round of the cycle of indoctrination begins...
