Charge, Boys!
Charge, Boys!
Synopsis
In the summer of 1997, having just finished the high school entrance exam, Bian Xi and several good friends were playing football in a small park when they met a young street thug. In Bian Xi's memory, the thug called them over to a corner one by one and "cleaned them out" (a term then used for robbing money). Twenty-seven years later, Bian Xi still thinks of it from time to time, because he feels he was such a coward: there were so many of them and only one of him, yet they did not dare to rush him together. Today, in middle age, Bian Xi meets his old friends to play football again. During a break they talk about the incident, and Bian Xi is surprised to find that the others remember it differently. Only one friend, Caitou, was robbed of his money and watch. At that moment, Bian Xi suddenly understands why the incident has stayed with him for so many years. That day they all watched Caitou being robbed but did not have the courage to help a friend who was being bullied. So over the years Bian Xi's mind reworked the memory into a version he could just about accept: that they had all been robbed. Even though 27 years have passed, he wishes he could have a chance to charge together with his friends just once. No reason needed, just charge, for the friendship and courage they lost back then, and as a proper farewell to a memory of youth he has carried for far too long.
