Synopsis

The film is based on a true story. It tells of a stubborn old man who learns to use a mobile phone so he can video chat with his grandson. Rural areas are developing quickly and living standards have risen, but many habits still rest on old ways of thinking. The actor, Grandpa Liu Renjie, is a villager of Zhongyangpu Village in Panjin, Liaoning. His wife died ten years ago and he lives alone. Used to life in his hometown, he is unwilling to move to the city to live with his children. He is quiet and shy, uses a basic phone for the elderly and still pays in cash. When he misses his son and grandson he looks at their photos, which carry his hopes and concern. Through this film we hope viewers will pay attention to the development and changes in their hometowns and go home more often to see their families, rather than learning to cherish them only after losing them.
