Synopsis

This story takes place on the Mid-Autumn Festival of 2021. On this day of family reunion, Xiaojiang has to spend it alone, because three months earlier he lost his last relative, his mother, to the pandemic. On this day the landlord calls to demand the rent, and he will soon be forced to leave the home he shared with his mother. He stares at the only living things in the house, two fish, and decides to go to the seaside as he did on every Mid-Autumn Festival. Only this time his mother is not with him; he is alone. The story is told through a circular mask on the frame, using a perfect perspective and a glimpse of a young man's family to tell a story that is not so perfect.
