Synopsis

While out running, Yifan, a girl with a hearing impairment, hears the voice of a friend who has died calling her. Chasing the source of the voice, she falls hard. From then on her hearing aid keeps producing an annoying noise, and the hospital cannot find the cause. At home she searches through sounds online but cannot find the source of the noise either. As usual, Yifan and her dead friend begin an imagined conversation through the hearing aid; the friend reads to her and talks about the room she is in. At the friend's request, Yifan plays the drums, which she has not touched since her ear problem began, but it brings on a severe headache. After throwing down the hearing aid and drumming in an outburst, she finds herself in the very room her friend described, and sees a television whose screen shows nothing but static.
