Synopsis

In 2020 the sudden "epidemic" took many lives and many people's hope for life. Yet in the face of the virus, a small story in a hospital ward in Wuhan shows us how a mother used a beautiful lie to encourage a critically ill girl she did not know to live on bravely and overcome her illness. A sick woman who cannot see her own child meets, in the ward, a seriously ill girl who has lost her parents, does not speak and cannot get up. Every day she describes to the girl what is happening in the zoo outside the window, helping the girl keep her longing for life. But when the girl gradually recovers and can lean out to look through the window herself, she finds that the lively, colorful zoo the woman described does not exist; there is only a hospital building. After a moment the girl understands the woman's good intentions: whether there is a zoo outside the window does not matter. When a new patient arrives in the ward, the girl takes on the task of telling stories about the zoo outside the window, passing the warmth on.
