Tangyuan
Tangyuan
Synopsis
The sun rises in the morning and sets at night, and it is still the same sun. The trees are green in spring and yellow in autumn, and it is still the same tree. Why is it that people are born, die, and are gone? This short film tells the story of a kitten who saves its owner with its life, a grandfather whose plan goes wrong and who is possessed, and a granddaughter who vows to save her grandfather. With a fresh premise of trading lives in a graveyard, a world in which people die three times and are revived twice, and an absurd ending in which Tangyuan is a cat who may now be my grandfather, it shows how young people born after 2000 view life and death. If the granddaughter stands for life and for boundless youth, the grandfather stands for death, and every meeting may be the last. Yet Tangyuan, Grandpa's beloved American Shorthair, tells us that there is much more between life and death: loving family and loving pets may bring us right back to life.
