Synopsis

Wang Siyangzi, a professional BMX athlete whose career in China was not going well, chose to retire at 22. After more than a year of confusion, she decided to go to the United States on her own, and won championships in the highly professional USA BMX championships and the Gold Cup series. While defending her title for a third straight year, she crashed and was injured. She was the only Chinese BMX rider capable of contending for an Olympic gold medal, but when she returned to China to recover, the COVID-19 pandemic cost her the chance to compete at the Tokyo Olympics. In nearly three years of the pandemic, her BMX career reached another turning point... She says: "Today I understand that an Olympic gold medal is no longer the only dream I pursue. Every place I have ridden, every race I have entered, every fall I have taken has knocked me down, tempered me and lifted me, showing me the direction forward and making me who I am today. No fall in life is wasted. Every fall makes me grow."
