Synopsis
After his wife's death, Shuwen hopes to find a new companion, but his daughters object. This leads him into the very different lives of his three daughters: one belongs to the elite, one to the middle class and one to the working class, and each has troubles she keeps to herself. Moving between their households, Shuwen gradually becomes a bridge between three generations. His grandchildren, outwardly full of personality, are also finding their way through questions of identity and the pressures of class. With a quiet, deep-running narrative, the film shows the subtle and complex flow of feeling within a family and speaks to the common dilemmas in life that have no answers.
