Good Wishes in This World is a warm realist story. Across the four seasons and three places (Beijing, Kunming and Dali), the film uses clear, understated images to tell of the love and conflict between a mother and her daughter, and of how city dwellers of this era, moving between their hometown and other places, come to understand family and themselves.
Synopsis
I return to a hometown that no longer feels familiar to accompany my mother through the last stage of her life. It is as if I am going with her once more through a lifetime's journey of love, friendship, youth and dreams. Amid the changing seasons and the small details of daily life, at home and away from it, I have to face again certain people and feelings that for a long time I had missed, and even wanted to escape. Now they teach me how to live, how to face life and death, and how to love.
