He was the Dean of the Film Department at the Taipei National University of the Arts, founded the Taipei Film Festival, and promoted film counseling grants and film classification. She juggles roles in industry, academia and criticism. She has produced/produced many classic works, both in terms of word-of-mouth and box office, and has also won numerous awards internationally. She is an important promoter of the internationalization of Chinese-language cinema, assisting directors such as Edward Yang, Hou Hsiao-hsien, Wang Xiaoshuai, Tsai Ming-liang and many others to go international. She has also written articles on the aesthetics of Chinese cinema, and is dedicated to the promotion of Chinese film culture and cross-border co-productions, and has nurtured countless active directors, producers and actors.
