Synopsis
"Kawan" means friend in Malaysia. Fu-ahn, a Malay who lives in poverty and relies on stealing cars for living, happens to see a Chinese child named Yan Yan being bullied by other children. He helps to get her out of it, but thereafter Yan Yan, who has nowhere to go, keeps pestering him all the time. Fu-ahn finds it hard to ignore Yan Yan, so he takes her in, and helps her to set on the journey to seek her mother. Despite their different races and languages, Fu-ahn presents in the way Yan Yan can understand, and with his kindness and their growing friendship, the journey is full of laughter and warmth.
